Since 1884, the School of Law at the University of Oregon has educated lawyers, judges, elected officials, and leaders, promoting successful graduates. As Oregon’s only public law school, the University of Oregon’s School of Law offers students a variety of law degree programs.

Law students complete externships and clinics to obtain experience. Students are placed at attorneys’ practices, working as interns for district and federal courts, at the Oregon state legislature, study mediation training, work with businesses and other opportunities.
Opened in 1999, the state-of-the-art William W. Knight Law Center offers students advanced options in digital technology. Named the “most wired law school in America” by the national Computer Assisted Legal Instruction Group, the law center includes 138,000 square feet of wireless access and over 1,500 “fast Ethernet” jacks, enabling students to connect to the Internet speedily.
Students have access to the law library, a mock courtroom, 200-seat auditorium, and basketball court. All law students are required to own a laptop, either Mac or Dell. Students are provided a full service help desk, providing hardware service, instruction and support from the UO Law Technology Office.
The fall admissions deadline for first year applicants starts in September and ends in March for the following fall term. The UO School of Law application process is extremely competitive, as the school receives an average of 2,000 applications for 180 available seats in the first year class. With over 5,500 University of Oregon alumni in law, networking connections, such as through the Lane County Bar association, and events are available to current law students.
